1

Exercise Early

If you are finding you have much less time to get your workout in, exercise early in the morning before the baby awakes. Exercising early is one of the best weight loss tips for new moms because there are no distractions at this time to come between you and working to achieve your goal.

2

Nurse Your Baby

Breast feeding your baby is a great way to provide your baby with IgM antibodies which can only be given through passive immunity, lower their risk of an infection, all while burning an extra 500 calories per day. Providing your baby with your milk will give your baby ultra-health benefits while helping your uterus contract to its natural size more quickly and helping you to lose weight. This is an added benefit to all the great nutrients you will provide to your baby!

3

Utilize Nap Time

New babies sleep a heck of a lot, so why not use nap time to get things done. When baby goes down for nap time, why not rush to your workout and utilize this down time to work towards your fitness goals. Just make sure you have been to your 6 week postpartum check-up and your doctor has given you the ok to resume exercise. My 22 month old just started resisting naps and boy am I missing my workout time. It is back to 4am workouts since I will always find time for fitness, but nap time fitness rocked while it lasted!

4

Tote along Your Tot

Head outside to enjoy the great outdoors while bringing along your baby. Invest in a running stroller so you can bond with your baby as you get your workout in. Some of my fondest memories involve me running singing songs with my 2 daughters as I push them in the double stroller. The best part of the workout is we always ended at a playground and the girls would play.

5

Workout with Your Baby

Simple exercises you can do throughout the day while holding your baby or putting the baby in a front carrier, include squats and lunges. As the baby get past 6 months, you can even do crunches with your baby on your belly. Bond with your baby while getting in a great workout!

Pack Healthy Snacks

When heading out for the day with baby, make sure to pack healthy snacks for both you and baby. If you pack healthy snacks you will be less likely to stray from healthy eating and work towards your weight loss goals. So pack some fruit and veggies to nosh on and boost your metabolic rate. Mom needs good health to better take care of their babies!

7

Drink Plenty of Water

One of the simplest and most effective things you can do for yourself is drink plenty of water. If you are a nursing mom this should be an even larger focus. Aim for 8-12 glasses of water and to add some flavor, add some lemon or cucumber slices. Water is refreshing and will help you stay hydrated throughout the day. And an added benefit of staying hydrated is that your skin will look great. So drink up!

New moms, I hope you have enjoyed my tips for weight loss and you will prioritize your health because you are worth it. What are your weight loss goals, new mommy and how will you achieve this?
