Have you ever thought about the cartoons that are good for kids to watch? We often think about which ones are bad for kids to watch, but there are a few great cartoons that kids love that will not be a bad influence on your child. Keep on reading for my list of cartoons that are good for kids to watch!
1 Tom and Jerry
Tom and Jerry has to be one of my first cartoons that are good for kids to watch, because I love this little show! It’s a very clean show, and always entertaining to children. It may be a bit older, but that doesn’t denote from its entertainment value! You can buy episodes of Tom and Jerry online or even find it in stores.
2 Veggie Tales
My parents were always selective with the cartoons my siblings and I could watch growing up, and this was one of them. Veggie Tales are clean, wholesome cartoons for kids to watch that are entertaining and cute! I love that each episode has a moral value to teach at the end.
Some people may disagree with me on this one, but I think Finding Nemo is a great cartoon for kids to watch. If your child is easily frightened, some aspects of this cartoon may scare your little one, but it’s an otherwise heartwarming story that mixes humor in with great values about love and life.
4 Looney Tunes
Here’s another oldie but goodie cartoon that is good for kids to watch. Looney Tunes have been around for quite some time, yet they never cease to bring a smile to any viewer's face no matter their age. Some cartoons are not actually “fun” for parents to watch with their children, since they are immature for an adult. But Looney Tunes can be enjoyed by every age!
5 The Backyardigans
If you need to pop in something to get your child’s attention for a little bit while you finish getting something done, Backyardigans will do the trick! Kids in the younger ages really enjoy this cartoon, and it always has a sweet lesson at the end about life, love, or friendship. No innuendo to worry about either!
6 Barbie Movies
If you have a little princess on your hands, consider letting her watch the Barbie movies! I’ve loved each one that I’ve seen so far, and they are all age appropriate and family-friendly. Besides, what little girl doesn’t like to watch movies about princesses or flying dragons or secret underwater caves? I’m an adult and I even enjoyed watching the Barbie movies with my younger siblings!
7 Little Einsteins
Kids like to watch cartoons for the entertainment, but they don’t realize that cartoons can be a learning tool as well! Little Einsteins is a great cartoon to encourage learning and promote educational values. This one is best for younger ages, but older kids may enjoy it too. You know your child better than anyone, so judge accordingly.
These days, cartoons can be just as much for adults as they are for kids. It’s entertaining, but dangerous too, since kids pick up on innuendos more than we realize. Which cartoons on this list do you let your child watch? Are there any other cartoons you think are good for kids to watch? Please comment below with your own thoughts and opinions!

adadof2 As with all aspects of parenting, there is input from the outside. How our children deal with and react to it that input is directly related to how we do so. There is no getting around this. Keep this in mind and act accordingly and it won't matter what your child watches with regards to "programing"... Be the model, don't obscure or shelter, embrace and teach.
Fran @Ruth Marsh Luv that Ruth interactive tv that's great. Parents who are really involved. This makes the kids realize that what they are interested in is important That makes them feel special Have you seen the shows on your PBS channels They are great DANIEL TIGERS NEIGHBOORHOOD,THE CAT IN THE HAT, DINOSAUR TRAIn. ALOTS MORE HPODHOOD
iris I love all Hesse for my self and my kiddo, I mean except the Barbie but other than that I love them
CaseyLynn I really don't think that Tom and Jerry is a good show for a little kid to watch I mean would you want your tow year old watching a cat trying to blow up a mouse with a stick of dynamite!
Francois I love Barbie!
Mel Tom and jerry it's ban in my house, too violent and mean not only because I say so but my lil boy think so. He loves postman pat and Thomas the tank engine :)
Ali Magic School Bus is great
Liya I love Tom and Jerry and the looney toons but they're kinda violent
Jessica My toddler loves! Little Einsteins! And I agree that's its a good one to watch! Educational and not too much going on!
jenny Arthur And Winnie the pooh should be on this list. Both show good influences and morals. I also loved Bobby's world when I was young. It uses a lot of creativity and wit, and without being violent.
Nancy I think another good one for kids when they're maybe a tad bit older too is Captain Planet. It can teach everybody how to take care of the earth and its environment. :D
Terri Miss Spider and the Sunny Patch Friends and Little Bill are two favorites in our house. Probably more enjoyed by the 2 to 5 year old group. And my 4 year old loves Dora the Explorer and Diego.
Brie Looney Tunes :D
Anishai Great cartoons but all of them are not good for kids :) #1 fighting bulling #2 talking veggies - lie #3 talking animals - lie #4 all together #5 lie about animals #6 lie #7 looks ok . Just sharing how it looks if you really want to give the kid real basics for life not just ADD and fake reality.
random_cutie @Anishai It's called imagination! I enjoyed watching when I was younger even though I knew they can't talk, I still loved them and they built my creativity as I grow!
Leone What about Doug?
Kat Blue's Clues, Arthur and The Magic School Bus. Top 3 favourites in my childhood💙! ...Though I still watch Arthur :))
Hadar Uhm ...Arthur ? Magic school bus? Way better than Barbie movies which are really nothing but commercials! Arthur is particularly educational for social settings that kids face everyday with their friends and family and I learned more from magic school bus than I ever did in a classroom.
Ruth (What I mean is, you aren't going to just leave your kid mindlessly watching tv. Even though my son is very young, we already chatter on to him about what's happening on the tv etc - as with any activity, alot of the pros and cons are actually down to the participation of the parents.
Ruth I think it's important to remember that anything you let your kids watch can be a lesson for them - the difference between a cartoon fight and a real fight, for example, is a great lesson for any child. Knowing that tv and cartoons are acted or drawn and not like real life is valuable, and can be a not-too-challenging way to help introduce your kids to all sorts of abstract ideas. Just a thought.
Natasha I would much rather let my kids watch my pet monster or even the bugs bunny and tweety show but never the Barbie movies. Barbie makes women and girls feel imperfect.
Tisha Super Why! Is a great educational show. Makes reading and spelling out words fun for the kiddos.
hwannie Tom and Jerry? that show is super violent...it shouldn't even be on the list. In one episode, they actually execute Tom.
Katherine Dora and Rubarb
Sharon This one is SO old but my favorite cartoon as a kid was Maggie and the Ferocious Beast :x
Adriana I agree with the comments of Magic School Bus and Arthur! Those were my faves
hanan Franklin*
hanan Umm what about Arthur and Franklin?
danniece What about doc mcstuffins? She's cute! 😊
dreamymur What about Winne the pooh? i really like it maybe i'm 18 😆
Liam Winne the pooh? The ultimate good morals cartoon. Also that barbie movies? Really?? Barbie is probably one of the worst examples to put in front of a child.
Abbi Barbie films promote a very unrealistic body type that I feel uncomfortable sharing in the world in which we live. As a teacher, I agree that Magic School Bus should be on this list! Arthur if you're looking for a moral lesson.
Roma I feel that The Magic School Bus should be on this list...
Josefin I'm 19 and I still love those Barbie movies, I don't know why though haha😊
Weilin You should do a cartoons that are bad for children to watch
Diana Great idea, we will consider that, thank you!
hwannie @Weilin Liu well, 3 of these were good, the others were bad choices. LOL.
Johanna But everyone likes spongebob. Kits hard not to like
hwannie @Johanna I love spongebob, but we all have to admit it's really violent at times. And studies show spongebob actually makes you lose brain cells. xD
Johanna Lol I remember when I was little my parents would watch sponge bob and Dora with me sometimes.
Doni What about Mickey Mouse and Jake and the neverland pirates? My son loves them!
