1

Have a Routine

One of the best ways to be a calmer mom is to have a routine in place. It doesn’t have to be so strict that it causes you stress if something happens that isn’t in your routine. But having a basic schedule you follow can help things go smoother. You know when bath time and bedtime are so you are saved the stress of time slipping by on you. This helps everything to stay on track.

2

Find Some Organization

Disorganization can cause you to be stressed and frazzled. When things are disorganized you don’t know where they are. This will cause you aggravation and hassle. You don’t have to be exceptionally talented to start applying some organization to your life. Start by trying to have a certain place for things.

3

Don’t Expect Perfection of Yourself

It is good to want to be the best mom that you can be. That is a goal all mothers should strive toward. But putting the pressure on yourself to be a perfect mom isn’t fair to you. You will end up spending a good portion of your time upset that you aren’t perfect and aren't meeting your overly high expectations. This even causes you to not enjoy a lot of the precious little moments in your children’s lives because you are busy stressing.

4

Do Something Calming Everyday

Motherhood is an enormous responsibility. This is especially true when you combine it with other responsibilities, such as being an employee, a wife or other roles that you may fill. All of those responsibilities can wear you down. You can’t be any good to anyone else if you don’t take care of your own needs. Try to do something that you find calming and enjoyable each day so you can be your best self.

5

Take a Moment

This is a very helpful little tip to follow. When you are feeling very frazzled and you are in the midst of a discussion with one of your children, take a moment to yourself before replying. This gives you time to take a breath and make sure you are ready to deal with your child. Sometimes that is all it will take to help you reach calmness. Other times you may need to slip away for a while longer.

Hang out with Calm Moms

The company you keep will wear off on you. This can be a good or a bad thing. For this reason, it is wise to carefully consider who your friends are. Choose some moms who are in touch with their calm side to be friends with. More than likely, this will be a skill you can learn from them.

7

Cut Yourself Some Slack

A lot of times, mothers are too hard on themselves. Motherhood is something that can be very difficult. For this reason, cut yourself some slack. If you know you are doing your best, don’t completely stress out. Remind yourself that you are doing the best you can and that is what matters.
