1. Quilt Decorating
If you are planning a baby shower, it is always a good idea to have at least one fun activity planned. One of the most thoughtful activities I have seen is quilt decorating. One baby shower I recently went to had a table set up with quilt squares that people could decorate. After the shower was over, the squares were sewn together to make a quilt for the baby. All you need for a quilt decorating station is fabric paint, decorative iron on transfers, an iron, and quilt squares. Each guest can decorate a square with a special message or drawing for the baby. It doesn’t have to be elaborate. It is the thought that counts, and the end result is something that will be cherished for many years.
2. Reveal Party
For a baby shower that has a little mystery in it, you can have a reveal party. I think this is a very fun way to let people know if the baby is a boy or a girl. One of the most common ways to do this is by having the mom cut a cake that is either blue or pink inside. If you do choose to do a reveal party, the guests will be so excited as the cake is cut. I know I would be waiting with anticipation to see the color of the cake. You could even choose to use cupcakes to reveal the sex of the baby. As people bite into the cupcake they will have the added fun of discovering if it is a boy or a girl!

3. Theme
I don’t know about you, but I just love all of the cute themes for baby showers there are to choose from. While you can have a boy or girl theme depending upon the sex of the baby, you can also get creative and go in another direction. One of my cousins, for example, has a rainbow theme. While the shower hasn’t happened yet, I know it will be very colorful. If a rainbow theme isn’t up your alley, there are plenty of other ideas. You could have a baby animal theme or a strawberry shortcake theme. You could even choose to have a tea party. The options really are endless.
4. Gifts for Mom
If this is a baby shower for a second baby, there is a good chance that the parents already have a lot of the baby items they need. If that is the case, there is no reason you can’t have presents for the mom. What expecting mom wouldn’t love to have a gift certificate for a pedicure? Giving gifts that will pamper the expectant mother will make her feel really special, and hopefully very relaxed.
5. Baby Names
Another wonderful idea for a baby shower is to have guests provide ideas for baby names. Some parents have a really hard time coming up with ideas for baby names, and any ideas are helpful. You can have slips of paper for people to write their ideas on, and they can place them in a dish. Toward the end of the shower, the mom can read the ideas out loud and see if any names strike a chord. It is possible that one of the names just might be the perfect name for the baby.

6. Games
Baby showers and games often go hand in hand. There are a variety of different games that you can set up. Some of my favorite ideas include bobbing for nipples and pin the diaper on the baby. Not only are these games fun, but they are reminiscent of childhood games, which is perfect for a baby shower. Another fun game to play is guessing the baby food. Have guests do a blind taste test of different baby foods to see if they can determine the flavor. It is surprising how often people can’t determine the flavor of pureed bananas. As difficult as this can be, the person who guesses the most correctly should certainly get a prize.
7. Mini Food
There is nothing more adorable or more perfect for a baby shower than mini food. When you are planning a menu for a baby shower, you can always choose to serve mini versions of everything. There can be a baby vegetable platter. You can have tiny philo cups and mini sandwiches. You can also serve mini cupcakes and petit four cakes. You just want to make sure that you have enough. Remember, miniature food doesn’t go as far, and people will want more.
Planning a baby shower can be a lot of fun. It can also be a lot of work. However, if you needed some fresh ideas, hopefully these baby shower ideas will make the planning process easier. I know whatever you come up with will be fabulous! What are some unique ideas you have for baby showers?
