Get Involved with Other Moms

While you never want to forget your old friends, you may want to work on meeting some new ones. You will want to have some friends that are moms if your other friends aren’t. Having mom friends can be wonderful because they can completely understand what you are going through because they have been there, too. Take opportunities like play dates, birthday parties and parent night at your child’s school to try to make some new friends. You will be glad you did.

3

Take Care of Yourself

It is easy enough to neglect yourself when you are a stay at home mom. After all, you probably think that you just stay home with children all day so why should you put any effort into yourself? The truth is that it will help you to feel better when you get dressed in real clothes and spend time on your makeup and hair as you did before becoming a stay at home mom. You will feel better about yourself when you do this. You may even find yourself more energized.

4

Exercise

Exercise is usually one of the first things to go when you become a stay at home mom. You would think that you would have all the time in the world to exercise but this new tiny person you delivered can certainly take up a lot of your time. You have to be intentional about exercise. Make plans and do what you need to in order to keep them. Exercise makes you feel better physically and emotionally, so it is worth the effort.

5

Get a Break

While you are undoubtedly captivated by your new little darling, you need some time away from them, too. It helps to remember you are still an adult. Let Grandma or Daddy keep baby while you go grocery shopping or do something just for fun. You will return home refreshed and ready to take on your mom role again. Make getting a break a regular habit.
