You have finally done it. Your beautiful new baby is born and you and your partner have made the plunge into parenthood. While of course the early stages of parenthood are magical, they are also going to be scary. You will hopefully have help from your friends and family, but you are going to have to rely on yourselves as well in order to truly be good parents. Learning and understanding what you need to do when baby is first born is an important part of becoming a good parent. While it may seem overwhelming, just remember that you are not alone, and if you know what to do, it will be a seamless process and your baby will be just fine. TAKE CARE of the PAPERWORK

The first few weeks of parenthood are going to be filled with spending every moment with your newborn. Between feeding, changing, and the myriad of other newborn related tasks you need to accomplish, it is imperative that you remember to take care of all of the paperwork associated with having a baby. Your child will have numerous important documents that you need to handle for him or her. You need to report the birth to your insurance, file paperwork for your child’s social security number and birth certificate, and fill out other various papers as well. Many hospitals will provide you with most of this paperwork, but be sure that you take care of everything that needs to be addressed.

START PLANNING ANY RELIGIOUS CEREMONIES

Most religions have some type of ceremony for newly born babies. If you are a religious couple and want to raise your child in your religion, you will need to plan for these ceremonies. You will need to contact your religious community’s leaders and find out what the best course of action is to prepare for these events. You will have to send out invitations to invite your friends and family to this spiritual event that is marking your child’s entrance into your religion.

TAKE PICTURES

The first few weeks after having a baby are incredible. Although at times they may be stressful, you will never have a chance to be so close and loving to your baby. You want to remember these times and what your child looks like when he or she is so tiny, so remember to take as many photographs as possible! These truly are precious moments and you will indubitably be happy you have these adorable baby photos when your child is grown.
