Use a Swing

A swing is one of the oldest ways to soothe a fussy baby because it works like a charm. There are so many available types of swings with different styles of motion, speed settings, and music options, so pick one that works best for your little one. I actually have two swings, one for upstairs and one for downstairs!

2

Swaddle Your Baby

Babies love being swaddled, especially newborns. I swaddled my daughter until she was 2 months old, and many moms will tell you they still swaddle their babies until they are a year old! Being swaddled helps keep babies from startling themselves with sudden movements they can’t control and it also keeps them warm.

3

White Noise Machine

A white noise machine was a lifesaver for me with my baby! White noise reminds babies of the sound they heard while in the womb, so it’s very soothing for them. White noise also blocks out other sounds, so you can continue with normal household activity without fear of waking up baby!

Rule out Any Causes

Could your baby be hungry? Does he need a diaper change? Is he over-stimulated, sleepy, scared, too hot or too cold? Check on any other possibility of things that could be wrong with your baby before chalking it up to fussiness. There could be something that your little one needs!

Gas Relief Drops

Gassy babies will cry - a lot. Gas can sometimes be due to formula, or what mom ate if baby is breastfed. Try to adjust your diet or switch formula brands. You can also check on the type of bottles you use and how well baby is being burped after feedings.

Warm Bath

A warm bath can do wonders to calm a fussy baby! Make sure the water temp isn’t too hot. I’ve found that babies who are completely submerged are happier than babies who have part of their bodies out of the water. You can also take a bath WITH your baby. Skin on skin contact is excellent for calming your baby down!

Chiropractic Care

I am a big advocate for chiropractic healthcare. Having your baby adjusted holds bountiful benefits, not just for your sanity, but also your baby’s health. Your baby will sleep better, have happier moods, easier bowel movements and better digestive health to name a few benefits. I would recommend a consultation before you have your baby adjusted to make sure that the chiropractor is a good fit for you and your little one alike.

Being a parent is an amazing gift, but it can have moments that make you want to cry along with the baby! These tips may help to calm your fussy little one and give you a few hours of peace and quiet! If your baby is chronically fussy, then you should mention it to your doctor because your baby might have colic or a serious underlying medical issue. Thanks for reading!

Ella - to me ( a mother if two) this is a sure sign that your baby isn't full. Sometimes they are unable to get enough feed and get hungry immediately after their meals...suggest you try giving your baby a top up after meals and see a happy bunny....

My nephew is a very fussy baby who cries often but no matter how worked up he is he stops when I sing "Yesterday" by the Beatles . I've pulled that trick out MANY times

thanx for this article I've tried everything for my baby and nothing calms her down she's not crying or in any pain.. Just really hyper.. she's not having any thing sugary so I can't put my head around it.. She just lifts her back up and kicks her legs and flaps her arms for hours.. And them exhausts herself and then starts getting cranky..

One thing that worked for me (a daycare teacher) in the baby room is whispering "shhhh" in their ear.

Sing your baby a lullaby... Rocka my baby.. Lalalala...
