1

Accept Life is Going to Be Crazy

The first thing to do when you have two under two is to realize that your life is going to be a little wild for a while, as in, probably a few years. Accepting that this is just a stage of life you are going through is healthy. It is also helpful to remind yourself that it is temporary. Your children will grow out of these sweet baby years. The stress of this time will not always be with you.

2

Enlist Help for Busy Times

Having two children under two years old is not for the weak at heart. You are a strong and admirable mom to do all that you are doing. That being said, one of the best things that you can do is ask for some help. There are times when you need help and there is absolutely no shame in asking. Consider having grandma babysit on a weekly basis while you do errands or letting Daddy take over while you enjoy a yoga class.

3

Buy a Good Double Stroller

A double stroller is a must for a mom of two under two. You do not want to try to chase one child while carrying another. Having a double stroller allows you a secure way to be out with your babies. They are locked in securely and you have more freedom for whatever you need to do. This will bring a lot of relief.

4

Get Your Children on a Similar Sleep Schedule

It is understandable that a toddler and a newborn are not going to have the same sleep needs. But as much as you can, try to match them up. This could mean having bedtimes that are close to one another. It could also mean that you try to put the baby down when it is your toddler’s naptime so that you get some free time to take care of things. It may take a bit of effort but the end result will be worth it.

5

Follow a Routine

A routine can be a mommy’s best friend when she has small children, especially if you have two under two. It can help your day flow more smoothly. It can bring order to the chaos that has become your life. You will find that things go more smoothly when you have set mealtimes and feeding times, bath times and play times. Your children will most likely do better on a routine, too.

Famous Quotes

Love is like a friendship caught on fire. In the beginning a flame, very pretty, often hot and fierce, but still only light and flickering. As love grows older, our hearts mature and our love becomes as coals, deep-burning and unquenchable.

Find Some Mommy Friends

You are going to need support to get through the next few years. One of the best sources for support is fellow mommy friends. Look for moms that have children close to the age of yours. Even if they don’t have two under two, they will be able to relate. Some days, that will mean more than you can express.

7

Take Care of Yourself

You really need to take care of yourself when you have two young children. I know that it seems like that is the last thing you have time for, but you need to be at your best for your little ones. Make sure that you are eating well, getting exercise and as much rest as you can with two under two. It is also important to make some time for something that you enjoy doing just for pleasure.

Having two under two is tough but it can be done. What advice do you veteran moms have for those in this position? I am sure they would love to hear your helpful hints!

Where Thoughts and Opinions Converge

I have 4 kids. I thought it was just nuts having 3 in diapers at the same time. Someone was always needing a change! I just had to accept that a lot of things had to be "on hold" for a while. There's no such thing as perfection in a house full of kids. That's the one sure thing! Actually, I think it's even harder when they all go into school. Picture this: One in high school, one in elementary, one in preschool, one still home and nursing. Events, fundraisers, field trips, sports, play dates! We just about lived in the van, loaded with snacks and diapers and ready to roll! I think I'd take the baby days over that anytime!

this is all so true

BUT- don't get me wrong here- there was and still are a whole lot of fun times thrown in there with the crazy stuff! It's like a comedy dinner party every night at our house! Never a dull moment!
