1

Start a Sewing Project

If you're looking for activities to do with your daughter, perhaps you could start with a sewing project. My daughter has recently discovered that she really likes to sew. Together we have made several pillows for her dolls. We plan to make some pillows for her bed, as well. If making a pillow doesn't sound like something you could enjoy together, consider making something like purses or blankets.

2

Exercise Together

If you're looking for a healthy activity to do with your daughter, consider exercising together. I know that there are many exercise programs that are not right for children, but there are tons of fun activities that you can do to get active. Perhaps you could jump rope or dance to your favorite music. When the weather is nice, head outdoors and go for a walk or a bike ride together. I have a friend who does Zumba and she takes her daughter with her.

3

Go to the Movies

Even though my daughter is only 8, she already loves watching chick flicks. While I do try to choose movies that are age appropriate, we really love watching movies together. Sometimes we watch movies at home, instead of going to a movie theater. When watching movies at home, we usually watch two movies. One that I've selected and one of her choice.

4

Cook Together

Most kids love to help out in the kitchen. My little girl loves to help me prepare meals. She is not old enough to use the stove, but she is able to help with most of the meal preparation. She is always very proud of the foods she help prepare. To her a meal would not be complete without setting the dinner table and adding her homemade place cards.

5

Go out to Dinner

Does your daughter have a favorite restaurant? Perhaps, the two of you could go out to dinner at a restaurant of her choice. Dining out with your daughter is a great way to promote communication between the two of you. While eating you will be able to talk about the topics that are important to her. She will be more likely to open up to you about any problems that she's having at school or with friends.

Read a Book Together

My daughter and I like to read books together. Usually we take turns reading the pages. I feel that doing this keeps us both interested in the book. If you're not sure what books to read, let your daughter select one. Reading with your child is a great way to bond with them while improving their reading skills too.

7

Take a Class Together

There are many different classes that you can take with your daughter depending on their age. Many craft stores offer a variety of classes on the weekends. I have considered enrolling my daughter and myself in a jewelry making or pottery classes. If you don't have a lot of extra time to take a class outside the home, look online for a class that you're both interested in. You can also find a lot of different tutorials online that will help teach you how to do craft projects.

I love getting to share special time with my little girl. How about you? What are some activities that you enjoy doing with your daughter.
