The Occasional Fast Food Meal

Don’t allow the guilt monster to cause you stress when you swing in under the golden arches. An occasional fast food meal isn’t the end of the world. It doesn’t make you a bad parent. More than likely, it makes you a parent whose evening is just too busy to cook. As long as your child is getting a nutritious diet most of the time, the occasional chicken nuggets and fries aren’t going to do any harm.

2

Saying No

It’s easy to get wrapped up in wanting to keep your child happy. I know because I’ve been there, too. But sometimes we need to say no and sometimes our kids need to hear it. It’s important for them to learn boundaries. Although saying and enforcing this word isn’t fun, it’s actually good for our kids.

3

That Your Child Goes to Daycare

As parents, you have to do what you have to do. And sometimes that means sending your child to a daycare center while you work or go to school. Don’t waste time stressing over this. If you’ve done your homework to make sure that the daycare center you choose meets high standards then mark this one off your stress list. Relax and enjoy your day; most likely your child is enjoying theirs at daycare.

4

Toddler Tantrums

Toddler tantrums happen. They aren’t a reflection of the sort of parent you are; they’re a reflection of the age of your child. Tantrums are totally normal for two and three year old children. It’s good to learn some techniques to help you deal with them effectively but don’t allow this one to keep you stressed. It’s a stage of childhood all children go through.

5

That Your Child Has Different Tastes to You

This should be a no-brainer but it can actually be quite shocking when you begin to realize it. Your children can have completely different tastes to you. I think this really begins to show around the beginning of the middle school years. That’s usually when your child starts getting very verbal about their dislike of your clothing choices for them. As a mom who’s been through this with two children, I’ve learned it’s best to pick your battles. As long as their clothing choices aren’t offensive, allow them to express themselves through what they wear.

What Your Mom Says

Your mom can offer you very wise advice. She can also offer advice that isn’t so great. It’s good to listen to her but you’re the mother of your child. You need to make your own decisions when it comes to what’s best for your child. Don’t let this one stress you out.

7

An Occasional Bad Grade

Everyone wants their children to excel in school. There’s nothing wrong with that. It’s good to encourage your child to do their best but don’t get stressed out if they get an occasional bad grade. There are subjects in school that’re difficult. Your child may have come up against one of them. Offer assistance but don’t blow this one out of proportion.

These are 7 things that aren’t worth stressing over as a parent. What things stress you out with your children? You’re welcome to share.
