Do You Want to Build a Snowman? Here's How

If you have kids, you know that they love to go outside and get crazy in the snow. And if your kids are anything like mine, they want you to come outside and play too. It's not my favorite thing to do, but it makes my kids happy. Looking for something to do out in the snow with your kids? How about building a snowman?

1 Look for a Patch of Packable Snow

That light, fluffy snow won't stick together. You need to find some snow that you can pack together.

Frequently asked questions

2 Start Making a Large Snowball

Use your hands to start creating a snowball. Let your kids help you out.

3 Roll It into a Larger Ball

Now, place the snowball on the ground and roll it to gather more snow.

4 Make a Medium Sized Snowball

Repeat steps #2 and 3# to make another snowball that is a bit smaller than the one you just made.

5 Now Make a Small Snowball

Do this again to make a small snowball for a head.

6 Stack the Snowballs

Pile the medium snowball on top of the large one and the small one on top of the medium one, pressing down gently to hold the snowballs in place.

7 Pack Some Snow in between the Snowballs

Show your kids how to pack some additional snow between the pieces of the snowman's body. This will help hold the entire thing together.

8 Add Body Parts

Gather some sticks from around your yard and insert them into the sides of the snowman to make arms.

9 Create a Face

Let your kids use rocks and a carrot to make a face on your snowman.

10 Accessorize

Now, add a hat, gloves or a scarf to bring your snowman to life.

11 Keep It up

If you want to make your snowman last for a few days, have your kids check on it and make adjustments to keep him standing.

12 Take Pictures

Don't forget to snap some selfies with your snowman so you can remember him forever.

Are you going to build a snowman with your kids this winter? What other tips can you add?
