Gone are the days when all you needed for a kid’s birthday party theme was balloons and a few cupcakes! People have gotten so much more elaborate as time has passed and now, you have to think of cool and original things to do at your kid’s party! This past year, I’ve been to a few kid’s birthday parties (more kid’s parties than grown up parties, that’s for sure) and in that year I’ve seen some adorable kid’s birthday party themes. This is a list of 7 kid's birthday party themes that your little ones will love.
This happens to be one of my favorite kid’s birthday party themes. It was actually my son’s first party theme. I made a blue coconut covered cake with cookie crumbles and marshmallow eyes, had big blue tissue paper balls that I made to look like that cookie lover and milk bottle decorations everywhere. Cookie Monster is an old favorite that you can put a new and cute spin on!
The girl that I want my son to marry in the future had an ADORABLE first birthday party. Everything was red with black polka dots, including the birthday girl’s dress. The cupcakes had adorable red frosted OREO wings and the decorations were marvelous!
I know what you’re thinking: the whole safari theme is a little over-done, but you could not be more wrong. A friend of mine got adorable cartoonish lion plates and napkins and everything was covered in animal print (tastefully of course). She even made cute fondant, elephant cupcakes and had safari hats for all the kids.
Sock Monkeys have been around for a long time but in recent years they have become SUPER popular. My friend set up a fake photo booth with giant sock monkeys for the kids to pose with. All that she used was an old refrigerator box that she had decorated and a little stool. Then she cut a hole in the box so she could put her camera in it. A week after the party with the thank you cards she sent the pictures she had taken! They were as adorable as the big, red mouthed cupcakes she had frosted!
Every girl wants to be a fairy princess, but I have been to the party that actually made the kids feel royal. When they walked in the door the kids were handed tiaras and scepters (crowns for the boys). Everything in the house was covered in glitter and gems and the cupcakes had edible glitter or (fairy dust as the kids called it). Although I imagine the cleanup was a pain, the kids loved it!
I always hated having a birthday late in the year because it meant that it was never nice out, but a friend of mine made winter even cooler by making her son’s party polar bear and penguin themed. Parents were encouraged to dress their kids in black and white or all white and there were fake glaciers and ice chunks everywhere. It was very original and very cool!
This was an older kid’s birthday, but I loved it so much! All the cupcakes were wrapped in elaborate flower-like wrappers and EVERY surface was covered in paper flowers. The birthday girl also wore a floral print dress. The whole party felt like a spring meadow!
