1. Buying Supplies
Stores start putting back-to-school supplies on sale as early as July. Beat the rush and get started as soon as possible. Check out sales fliers for discount stores and office supply stores in your area. There are some good deals on school supplies.
2. School Clothes
Buying new clothes for school is one of the fun ways to get ready for back-to-school. Of course we all know that buying new clothes can get costly. I suggest going through your child’s closet to figure out what things don’t fit and replacing a few items. Additional things can be bought throughout the year. I usually buy a pair of jeans, a couple of new shirts, and new shoes at the beginning of the school year. Throughout the year I buy things I find on the clearance rack.

3. School Uniforms
If your child has to wear uniforms to school then new clothing shopping may not be as fun, but it still needs to be done. I try to save money on uniforms by looking at thrift stores. Most of the time I am able to find plenty of good quality items that barely look used. Some churches and community centers will also do uniform drives to help you out.
4. Read
It’s not unknown that children lose a little bit of what they learned over summer. One way to get ready for back-to-school is to get children back into reading. You can have them read a few minutes every night before bed.
5. Bed Time Routine
Chances are summer has thrown off your routine a little. Longer daylight hours and less going on in the day has us staying up later and sleeping in a little bit. To prepare for back-to-school, I suggest adjusting your child’s bedtime routine. Start getting ready for bed a little bit earlier each night until you are back to your regular school night bed time.
