1. The Beach

The beach is one of my very favorite family vacation ideas. To me, there is nothing more relaxing, exciting and exhilarating than the beach. What a fantastic place to make memories. The adults will enjoy some rest and relaxation, while the kids will be able to enjoy splashing about, building sand castles and collecting treasures.

2. Camping

Get reacquainted with your family in the Great Outdoors. Pitch a tent (or bring along a camper) and enjoy the wonders of Mother Nature. Tell stories around a campfire, swim in a lake, go on nature walks and most important, disconnect from the rest of the world and re-connect with those who matter most.

3. A Theme Park

Looking for some action and adventure? How about a family vacation to a theme park? There are parks all over the place that offer spills, chills and delights. Your kids will have their dreams become a reality (especially when they see their favorite characters walking around), and you will feel like a kid again.

4. A Historic Location

Now, you may be reading this and thinking that I’m nuts for suggesting something historic as a family vacation, but the truth is, there is a lot of fun that a family can have at a historic site. Colonial Williamsburg, Gettysburg, the Jamestown Settlement and other historic sites offer reenactments that will bring history to life, that will teach your kids some important information and that will allow you all to make some lasting memories.

5. The City

If you live in the ‘burbs, your kids may be wondering what the big city is like. Visit museums, see a show, ride a subway, and climb some skyscrapers to take in the views on a family vacation. Culture, excitement and fun will await all of you in a city.

6. The Country

On the other hand, if you live in a metropolitan area, your kids may be wondering what the country is all about. For a family vacation, pack everyone up and head out to the country. Bucks County, PA is a great example of a country destination for you and your family to enjoy. Here, you can see how the Amish live, explore farm fields and just breathe in the fresh air and appreciate the beauty of nature. A break from the noises and the congestion of the city may be just what your family needs for a vacation.

7. Another Country

If you have the budget to do so, another country can be a fantastic vacation for you and your family. The options of places to go are limitless. Wherever you decide to go, your family will be able to soak up the culture of another country. They can learn the language, eat the food and see the sites and attractions of another place. How exciting!
