7 Really Fun Mother-Son Activity Ideas ...

By Diana

If you feel like your little guy is always hanging out with dad, then these mother-son activity ideas are just what you need. Give your boy a little one on one time with mom and show him that you can be just as cool as dad, or even cooler! There are so many different mother-son activity ideas that you can do that don’t have to involve the norm or something that dad usually does with him. Take a look at my list and share with me some of your favorite activity ideas.

1

Show Him a Hobby Mom Loves

One of the best mother-son activity ideas that any mother can do with her little boy or older guy is to show him something that mom loves to do. Whether you love to take photos, scrapbook, paint, repurpose items in the house, or garden, make your son part of this little world of yours and make something together.

2

Cook or Bake

Cooking or baking with your son is a great way to bond with him, but it is also a great way to teach him how to do something on his own. Once I started baking with my girls, they soon began to do it on their own and even made their dad a birthday cake one year! It’s an experience and skill you can share together and one they can give back when they start to cook and bake for you.

3

Go-Karts

You don’t have to go to the amusement park or carnival to ride go-karts, many towns have places that have fun activities like this. Go-karts are a great idea for mom and son to enjoy together; little boys love cars and will have a blast trying to beat mom around the race track! Show your son the fun side of mom and treat him to pizza afterwards.

4

Help the Community

Help out in the community for your mother-son activity to inspire him to one day volunteer on his own. No matter what age he is, there are plenty of ways to help out. If he is young, teach him about donating old clothes or toys, and if he is older (pre-teen or teen), volunteer together at your local church or soup kitchen. 5

Visit an Animal Sanctuary

Instead of going to the Zoo, visit an animal sanctuary. Many animal rescue facilities have great education centers where kids can see some of the smaller animals upfront and learn more about them. It’s a great way for them to learn how to care for animals and interact with them.

Dance

One day your son is going to dance with his wife on his wedding day and then he will dance with you. Well, why not start teaching him how to dance while he is young so that when he reaches that life changing moment, he will actually know how to dance?! At first, he might want to just jump around and dance like most kids do. But, if you put on a video or take a dance class at your local YMCA, he might have more fun with it!

7

Day at the Library

Explore your local library and see what activities they have planned that you can enjoy together. Many libraries have story time, clubs, and holiday events that you can participate in each month. Our local library collected empty milk jugs to build an igloo with, I bet your little boy would love to help out with an activity like that!
